“Created by Those That Served” brings together the work of veterans whose lives and experiences span generations of military service, artistic exploration, and personal reflection. The exhibit features artists from a wide range of backgrounds, including Vietnam veterans, retired Air Force and Navy personnel, National Guard members, Coast Guard reservists, and veterans whose service took them from Europe and the North Atlantic to Vietnam and emergency management operations across the United States.

For many of these artists, creative expression emerged or deepened later in life. Some pursued formal fine arts training after military service, while others returned to artistic interests decades after retirement. Several artists describe art as a way to process memory, reconnect with identity, and reflect on experiences shaped by service. Their work includes painting, sculpture, photography, watercolor, ceramics, portraiture, and mixed media — each piece carrying a unique personal perspective.

Presented during the nation’s 250th anniversary year, this exhibit honors not only military service, but also the enduring creativity, resilience, and humanity of America’s veterans. “Created by Those That Served” invites the community to experience deeply personal works shaped by history, reflection, and the continuing journey beyond service.
